Cate Blanchett is all set in the shoes of judge
It was reported on November 6, 2012 that Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett is chosen by Dubai International Film Festival on Monday to join the jury members o chose the winner of Filmmaker Award in December during the Dubai International Film Festival.
The jury members include Abdulhamid Juma, chairman of DIFF, Georges Kern, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen the sponsors of award, Olivier Pere, General Director of Paris-based Arte France Cinema and Masoud Amralla Al Ali, Artistic Director of DIFF. The name of the winner will be declared during the 9th edition of DIFF at a glamorous star-studded gala event at The One and Only, Royal Mirage.
The films shortlisted for the nominations are The Sleeping Tree by Mohammad Rashed Buali, From A to B by Ali F. Mostafa, Nothing Doing in Baghdad by Maysoon Pachachi, Girls in the Know by Abdullah Al Kaabi. These fiction films were selected from a bundle of hundreds of established and upcoming directors from Bahrain, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The Filmmaker Award was established earlier this year with a cash prize of US $100,000 which would financially help the filmmakers to portray their vision on the screen.
