Gali Gali Mai Choor-Movie Review

Gali Gali mai Choor was released on Feb 3, 2012 and it seems the film has already fizzled out at the box office and all the great expectations concerning this comic flick have turned to dust. The film is in perfect sync with the anti-corruption drive that went on for many weeks last year and grabbed a lot of attention. Similarly, Gali Gali mai choor went on the floor with a lot of fan fare dealing with the issue of corruption in civil departments and shared the same fate as the anti-corruption drive, fizzling out without achieving much.

The film is directed by Rumy Jafry who is well known for block busters like Golmaal Returns, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Hero No.1. The cast includes Akshay Khanna, Mugdha Godse, Shriya Saran, Satish Kaushik and Annu Kapoor and all these actors have nothing to write home about due to the mediocre script and storyline the film follows. The main plot is that politician wants a room in the home of bank cashier Bharat (Akshaye Khanna) to set up his election office in. When the latter refuses, he influences the cops to harass him and so the movie continues. Veena Malik did her bit to set the bar of item numbers high with the item track, Mehngi hui hai angraee, jab se Chhanno hai khirki pe aayee, whether she succedded or not is not yet known.  A special screening of the movie was held for Anna Hazare, what this achieved for the film’s promotion is yet to be seen, but it dosen’t seem to be making much of a difference with how things are looking at the box-office at the moment for Gali Gali Mai Choor!

Movie inspired by Anna Hazare soon to release

After setting an example for non-violent means of protests by the Indian Against Activist Anna Hazare, director Ganesh Shinde is now set to make a Marathi language movie on the veteran. Shinde will be concentrating on Hazare’s non-violent methods, which have proved fruitful for pursuing goals.

The director has also named the movie as ‘Mala Anna Vhaychay’ (I Want To Become Anna). The film will be spreading the message that the non-violent Gandhian ways of spreading the message and pursuing goals are more effective and healthy than  terrorist ideologies.

Shinde has set the story around a teenager, who is inspired by the ways of Mahatma Gandhi and belongs to a poor family. The boy then begins to follow the Gandhian principles and overcomes his personal frustrations too.

The director said that he had thought of the idea of the film even before Anna’s agitation for eradication of corruption. Shinde has also said that he will be requesting Anna Hazare to take part in some of the scenes of the movie.

Salman Khan’s body guards hit Anna’s supporters

Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been recently criticized by the supporters of Anna Hazare. The body guards of the actor had beaten up the activists of Hazare, who were trying to approach the actor to ask his support.

Salman was returning from a function in Kanpur after which some of the supporters of the Indian Against Corruption activist were trying to approach the actor for their support in the campaign. The activists had alleged that they were pushed by the body guards.

Salman was in the car and the body guards were surrounding the car, who had then pushed the activists and even hit some of them. One of the activist in the group, Deepak Bharat, had told the reporters that the bodyguards had hit them as soon as they had approached the actor.

Bharat said that they just had the intention to gift the actor with some Anna topis. The activists have now lodged a complaint against the actor.
